The Shanghai Venture Capital Association founded on Nov 17, 2000 is an NGO with a corporate capacity which has been approved for registration by Shanghai Administration Bureau of NGOs under the guidance of Shanghai Municipal Associations Development Program and Shanghai Municipal Development and Reform Commission. As well, the SHVCA is a member-based non-profit trade organization that is established voluntarily by enterprises engaged in venture capital, investment management, consultancy, agency service, finance and securities, laws and accounting, academic study, venture entrepreneurs, etc. With a basis of and in accordance with national and shanghai municipal laws and regulations, the SHVCA aims at promoting the development of Shanghai venture capital industry smoothly, promoting the cooperation and communication of domestic and foreign venture capital industries, making sure the self-discipline management of the Shanghai venture capital industry, pushing on the standardization of venture capital behaviors, and endeavoring the development and expansion of the SHVCA. In addition, the SHVCA will complete its tasks in accordance with the business scopes like coordination, communication and cooperation, consultancy service, academic research, professiona training, competence cognizance, and self-discipline management, etc. Meanwhile, as of now, the SHVCA has 95 member groups, of which the Council of the SHVCA has 22 member groups with one chairman who is the president of the Shanghai Venture Capital Co., Ltd., seven vice-chairmen, and one Secretary General who is in charge of daily affairs of the Secretary Office.
